Is "Vector" a Scam?

So after I returned from my Idaho vacation, I received a week's mail all at once. A lot of it was the usual stuff I expected, but there was one weird thing; a letter from "Vector."



Make that two; the second letter didn't "Vector" stamped on the outside, but it had the same offer on the inside.

Well, mostly the same offer. The two letters different slightly in content, and one had random bolding.

So I looked on Google to see if this was actually a real company.



According to this entirely reputable sounding website, it was indeed a real job offer. Time to check Wikipedia.

For the most part, Vector Marketing's Wikipedia Page goes pretty smoothly. But I was alarmed when I saw,

Some former employees have accused Vector Marketing of unsavory business practices[7] and it has even been referred to as a "scam."[8]

What's this? The eery job that I got two letters from could possibly be a scam? Do tell!



This led me to a blogspot blog called "Humanity Blues" and a blog post called "Taking on the Vector Marketing Scam." It's pretty convincing.

Anyways, while I don't entirely know if this is a scam or not, I definitely know I will not be taking this job with "Vector."

On the poor anti-Vector Marketing guy's blog, there was a Google Ad for "Cutco Knives," the company that supplies Vector Marketing. Truly irony knows no bounds.

While technically not ironic, it's amusing.

Oh Gametap...

So I was reading some stuff on Gametap's website. Apparently they do reviews now.

I was reading this one review. It was of things released for digital download. Some of them were Gametap games.

Which is odd, because they gave some of them crappy scores. Which is weird, because companies usually try to be unusually favorable of their products.

And, if they're telling the truth, then why did Gametap pick such craptacular games to release?

Oh, Gametap...

Missing Names on Manhunt Credits

Apparently the producer of Manhunt 2 (prior to it's transfer to another studio) is crying foul that the studio hasn't received credit for working on Manhunt 2.

Which is funny, because if I had worked on Manhunt 2, I sure as heck wouldn't want credit for it.

Trouble at Cardiology Summit

Did you read the title?

Specifically, a woman died of a heart attack.

That's right, a woman died of heart attack at a cardiology summit. Now there's irony.

To lessen the blow, though, she was a wife to a cardiologist and not actually a cardiologist.

The short article.

What is ecotourism? It came from a British magazine's comment section, but I believe it is tourism to see a rare animal featured on a Nature-ish show.

The article starts off with a speech made by Sir David Attenborough, about ecotourism. He mentioned that for a few environments, it was a great thing. However, when asked about others, he was hard pressed.

It sure is tough to face the irony that your life's work in nature-ish programs could lead to the destruction of nature.

However, the commenter mentions that tourism can always be good, if it is done with thought and care. And yes, that is one of the more better ways to do it. Still, do you really need to see those rare animals? Isn't visiting a completely different continent enough?

A Police officer received an award from MADD, then got a DUI!

For those of you who don't get it, a man who received an award from a group that disencourages drunk driving was found drunk driving. Oh man...
